Fun Facts
We couldn’t just run the words through a translation engine, as there are subtle nuances that only a native speaker could account for.
Here are a couple interesting tidbits related to this translation project:
- Unlike most other translations, we didn’t translate ‘powered by’ in ‘powered by Omny Studio’ to Japanese because, according to our translator, it looks more natural if those words remain in English.
- For the right-to-left player, the progress bar and play button still goes from left to right. Guidelines from Google and Spotify recommend this ‘as they refer to the direction of tape being played, not the direction of time’.
- Apple offers the Apple Podcasts badge artwork with the words “Listen on” translated into many languages. Never translate the words “Apple Podcasts”. Localized badge artwork is available in Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
